Dom Dolla “girl$”

Grammy-nominated Australian DJ, producer and songwriter Dom Dolla releases his first release of 2024, ‘girl$’.

Fresh off career-defining Coachella performances closing the Sahara tent to a full capacity crowd, and the Outdoor Theatre alongside John Summit as Everything Always – Dom Dolla continues his 2024 momentum.

‘girl$’ is evocative and emotive, striking a balance between naughty and empowering, “I saw you looked at him, and him look back at you, I felt the pain, I went insane and knew there’s not much I can do. The chorus chant, “Girls don’t need nobody,” has invited en masse sing-alongs from festival crowds, and has made it one of the most anticipated dance singles of 2024 with over 46M views across fan videos.

Dom shares about the record; “girl$ was inspired by a conversation I had with a bunch of friends who were all tired of bad dates… and had eventually come to the conclusion they were giving up on the whole charade. In ‘24 we have so much choice. Nobody is limited by who they want to love or spend time with… whether that’s a guy, girl, or even just relish in their own company”.

He adds: “I wrote the lyrics based upon a story a friend relayed to me about a wild night out she had. I recorded it and heavily affected my vocals, but felt it needed a strong female performance, so I reached out to my good pal Caitlin Stubbs and asked if she was keen to re-perform the vocal, her voice is fantastic and suits the record so well. I even left some crumbs of my vocal in there too. I hope you all enjoy the record as much as I enjoyed making it.”

2024, Dom Dolla is set for his biggest ever headline shows in LA, NYC, SF, Denver, a debut headline show at Ibiza’s Ushuaia, and UK and EU festivals including Reading & Leeds (UK), Parklife Festival (UK), Elrow (UK), Tomorrowland (Belgium), Emerge (Ireland), Szigeit (Hungary), Brunch In The Park (Spain). Adding to the excitement, Dom’s in the midst of a Las Vegas residency at LIV in Fontainebleau and instantly sold 150,000 tickets ahead of his 2024 Australian tour this November and December.
