Jack Back, Da Capo & Kitty Amor remixes of Dennis Ferrer “Hey Hey”

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future.

One of the OG Defected House Masters, Dennis Ferrer’s relationship with the iconic London label is checkpointed by a vast number of innovative originals, guiding house through many eras from soul and gospel to afro and techno. Now renowned as one of the instantly recognisable anthems of modern house and the Defected catalogue, ‘Hey Hey’ receives two afro house remixes from Jack Back and Da Capo & Kitty Amor.

As one of electronic music’s most prolific artists, Jack Back showcased his sample-led house sensibilities for the chart-topping Defected release ‘(It Happens) Sometimes’, now taking ‘Hey Hey’ and presenting an afro house-inspired take, complete with pitched percussion steering us towards moments of tension and smooth, deep release.

Up next on the package, South African producer Da Capo joins forces with a pioneer of the burgeoning UK afro house scene, Mahaba Music label boss Kitty Amor. Together the pair create an unmissable take on the classic, presenting a brooding ‘Hey Hey’ that unfurls slowly to reveal growling, electronic rhythms that slice through the sound system with tenacity.
