Defected November Sampler

As we run to the end of 2020, we are keeping the house, disco & club vibes alive with the latest edition of the Defected Sampler.

Shuya Okino featuring Navasha Daya – Still In Love (Dr Packer Remix) [Glitterbox Recordings]

A swelling, string-drenched slice of soulful disco, Kyoto Jazz Massive co-founder Shuya Okino’s 2011 release ‘Still In Love’ remains a hugely in-demand cut for discerning selectors, thanks to its life-affirming vocal provided by Navasha Daya and lush instrumentation. Now Glitterbox Recordings deliver a specially curated remix package of this record box essential, as this enduring modern-day classic is given the remix treatment by no other than Dr Packer.

Antenna – Rhombus (Jazz-N-Groove Soulfuric Mix) [Soulfuric Deep]

Earlier this year Andrea Bertolini debuted his Antenna! alias on Soulfuric Deep with three track EP ‘Algoritmo’. Now, one of house music’s most prolific and well-respected duos, Brian Tappert and Marc Pomeroy aka Jazz-N-Groove, remix one of the standout cuts from the EP ‘Rhombus’ for the label they set up. With Andrea using the new alias to channel inspirations such as Chicken Lips, Loose Joints and The Emperor Machine, Rhombus showed Andrea at his electronic, funk-fuelled, 80s inspired finest. Jazz-N-Groove lend their signature soulful heart and exquisite production finesse for a grooving mix sure to enchant dancefloors for many moons to come.

Fiorious – Follow Me (Harry Romero Club Dub) [Glitterbox]

Bronx-born singer-songwriter Fiorious made his anticipated return to Glitterbox with a stunning cover of Aly-Us’ ‘Follow Me’, bringing a hopeful message to the world, encouraging one and all to use their collective power to show up for each other. Harry Romero cooks up a club-ready mix nodding to the track’s Jersey roots, delivering an uplifting bassline, sumptuous builds and thunderous drops throughout.

Cakes Da Killa featuring Nomi Ruiz – ICU [Classic]

Following his Classic Music Company debut ‘Don Dada’, Cakes Da Killa returns to the imprint to release the ‘Muvaland’ EP, a snapping, playful and dancefloor-ready selection of hip house produced in collaboration with NYC producer Proper Villains. Lifted from this EP is ‘ICU’ as Cakes and Proper Villains team up with acclaimed singer-songwriter Nomi Ruiz. Her blissful vocal brings a necessary dose of soul to the release.
